Summer studentships

We have operated a highly successful scheme for Summer Studentships since 1999. In this period, more than 20 undergraduates have spent 10 weeks in the GraingerLab, and many have gone on to have successful careers in science (and two are still members of the lab). This scheme has been supported through our on-going collaboration with Poniard Pharmaceuticals (San Francisco, CA, USA).

When the scheme began, there were few similar opportunities for undergraduates. Today, however, there are many large and well funded alternatives, such as the Amgen Scholars programme. As a result we are currently considering what format our scheme might take for the next decade.

We welcome any comments, particularly from interested undergraduates, and expect to announce our new scheme in 2011.
