
Dr Jill Reckless
Jill Reckless graduated from Lancaster University in 1989 and trained for two years as a chartered accountant before studying for her PhD. at the National Heart and Lung Institute, University of London under the supervision of Professor Steve Marston. She gained her PhD. in 1994 and moved to the University of Cambridge to work with Dr. David Grainger. From 2002 to 2006 she was a Research Manager at the Translational Research Unit, Papworth Hospital, which led clinical trials into diagnostic products for coronary heart disease. She is currently employed as a Senior Research Associate and manages all the research within the IRTL group in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Reckless’s research interests have focussed on the molecular mechanisms of inflammation in a wide range of preclinical models of human disease. She has played a key role in the development of Chemotides, novel anti-inflammatory molecules that specifically target the chemokine family of proteins. This family of compounds are at present being developed by the clinical biotechnology company Funxional Therapeutics, where Jill is Head of Biology.
