Dr Catherine Overed-Sayer

Catherine graduated in Pathology from New Hall, University of Cambridge in 2004.  She spent the summer of 2003 in Dr David Grainger's laboratory looking at the role of TGF-beta in atherosclerosis.  She carried out her part II project in the Department of Medicine with Dr Cathy Shanahan, investigating the transcriptional regulation of the osteogenic phenotype of vascular smooth muscle cells.  Catherine started a Ph.D. in the Grainger Lab in October 2004 under the supervision of Dr. David Grainger focussing on inflammation in atherosclerosis, and the impact of tamoxifen on this disease.  Since being awarded her Ph.D. in 2008 she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher, investigating the molecular mechanisms of inflammation (Broad Spectrum Chemokine Inhibitors Programme) using a wide range of immunoassays in pre-clinical models of inflammatory diseases.
